Bully!!!

Standard

This post isn’t about a bully at all. It’s about a documentary entitled Bully, a documentary all about the effects of bullying in schools.  I think that this is a very powerful project that can change the school systems as we know it.

Here’s the synopsis from the film’s web site:

Over 13 million American kids will be bullied this year, making it the most common form of
violence experienced by young people in the nation. The new documentary film BULLY,
directed by Sundance and Emmy-award winning filmmaker Lee Hirsch, brings human scale to
this startling statistic, offering an intimate, unflinching look at how bullying has touched five
kids and their families.

BULLY is a beautifully cinematic, character-driven documentary. At its heart are those with
huge stakes in this issue whose stories each represent a different facet of America’s bullying
crisis. Filmed over the course of the 2009/2010 school year, BULLY opens a window onto the
pained and often endangered lives of bullied kids, revealing a problem that transcends
geographic, racial, ethnic and economic borders. It documents the responses of teachers and
administrators to aggressive behaviors that defy “kids will be kids” clichés, and it captures a
growing movement among parents and youths to change how bullying is handled in schools, in
communities and in society as a whole.

Watch the trailer below:

I’ve been bullied before. It’s not fun. It’s not right, but even though I was bullied, I always tried to be friends with those people who were bullied worse than I was or didn’t have any friends. I made it my mission to be a friend to all.

I plan to do a more in depth video/post about this project in the near future.

UPDATE!!!

So I’ve got quite a bit going on for the next month. Today marks the start of Script Frenzy! Script Frenzy is a contest of sorts. The goal is to write a 100 page script in 30 days. I’ve done it before and succeeded my first without much thought or planing into that script. This year, I have had my script planned out for the majority of March and really think that it’s going to make it to 100 pages. Anyhoo, I’ll post more about that during April.

Monday, I have an interview with Carter Mason, the co-founder of jts.tv (just the story). Just the Story is a web television platform a lot like Netflix, but I’ll have Carter tell you more about it.

I’m starting a new project for my internship. I’m thinking that it will be similar to this, but have a more historical emphasis to my hometown. It’s going to be a fundraiser and I hope that I can get it all done. Expect regular updates about it.
