Compliments of Regan Latimer

I’m really excited to be able to share this interview with all of you. It’s with Dana Puddicombe (puh-D-ick-cum) who plays Georgia Drew, the assistant to B.J. Fletcher from the web series, B. J. Fletcher Private Eye.

Here’s more information about Dana from the show’s web site:

Dana is an Actress and Writer from Roaches Line, NL (Newfoundland, Canada). She holds a BFA from Memorial University of Newfoundland and spent 4 seasons in the company of The Gros Morne Theatre Festival. After graduation, she lived on Nunnery Hill (literally) and appeared on stage for c2c, RCA, The Magnetic North Theatre Festival and East of Reason Theatre (co-founder). Upon moving to Toronto, Dana co-starred in the East of Reason production the ecstatics for SummerWorks and has performed her own material for various hosting and stand up comedy appearances. Her TV & Radio credits include Afghanada (CBC), Rookie Blue (ABC/ Global) and a guest starring role on Republic of Doyle (CBC). Dana is absolutely thrilled to return to her role as Georgia Drew! Lock & Load!!!

Nerd:  What are some other productions/projects that you have been involved in?

Dana Puddicombe:  The last thing I did was a couple of episodes of a CBC Radio Drama called Afghanada, and the first thing I did was the part of Mother Rabbit in a very cutting-edge production of Peter Rabbit with my Grade 1 class at St. Edward’s Elementary in Brigus, circa 1987. “Your ears fell off, but you kept on going” -a quote from Roxy, my mom.

N:  Favorite production/project. (not including BJ Fletcher)
DP:  Its a bit of a toss up! I did a play a few years back called the ecstatics, which was very near to my heart for many reasons. Straight out of university, a friend and myself produced and performed it, and not only was it a super interesting piece, it really proved to me how much you can achieve if you just go for it. And I did a role in the first season of Republic of Doyle, which is filmed in Newfoundland. I got to go home and work with amazing friends, and be a part of something really special. It was a really fun part.

N:  What made you want to get into acting?
DP:  I was really terrible at volleyball.

N:  What tips do you have for someone wanting to get into acting?
DP:  1. Read plays, take classes, and observe your surroundings closely every day… find the drama in your own world and the people around you. “Specificity is the soul of all good communication”-a quote from a smart person.

2. Don’t take yourself too seriously and avoid getting a facial tattoo. If you already have a facial tattoo, become great friends with a good makeup artist and carry on.

N:  If you weren’t acting, what would you want to do for a living?
DP:  I am not always acting for a living, so I bar tend to keep myself clothed and fed when jobs are dry. But if I chose another career focus, I would probably study Psychiatry or Architecture.

N:  If you could work with any actor or actress, who would be and why?
DP:  I would have loved to work with Audrey Hepburn. She is my all-time favorite person to watch (she just glowed… what a presence!), so I could only imagine what it would have been like to share a scene with her. If we focus on living performers, probably Chazz Palminteri or Helen Mirren.

N:  Dream project? (other than Fletch)
DP:  I would love to be on Days of our Lives.

N:  Coke or Pepsi?
DP:  Pepsi

N:  Cats or dogs?
DP:  Dogs

N:  Summer or winter?
DP:  Summer

N:  Hugs or kisses?
DP:  Hugs

N:  Fame or fortune?
DP:  Fortune

N:  Which is worse: speaking in front of a crowd or writing a paper?
DP:  I like both.

N:  Time travel to: the past or the future?
DP:  Future

N: Celebrity magazine or newspaper?
DP:  Trashy mag

N:  Fave food?
DP:  Movie theatre popcorn

N:  Fave  book?
DP:  The Godfather or The Alchemist

N:  Fave color?
DP:  Black. Does that count? Everyone looks so good in black.

Yes, Dana, I think that black does count and everyone does look good in black.
